In Speech, McGreevy Cites 'Intensely Personal Decision'



TRENTON, N.J., Aug 12 — Governor James E. McGreevey announced today that he is gay and said he will resign from office because he had had an affair with another man.

Mr. McGreevey, who did not give details about the affair, said the resignation would take effect on Nov. 15.
